In 2001 First Baptist Church Clairemont became involved in hands on mission experiences in Tijuana. Our First Mission trip was reroof what was called the seminary. Nine people went to Tijuana and tore off the existing roof and completely built a new roof. This was accomplished in one very long day. After this we began to financially support the pastor of a small, struggling, existing church. Our next adventure as to go back to the seminary and hook up their plumbing. Another church had gone down and built some showers and restrooms but were unable to finish the project so we took it on. From there we helped support a new church start in Rosarito, Mexico and helped with two orphanages. We paid for a church building to be built.
We have been on many one day mission trips to paint houses, feed the poor, deliver various supplies, and share Jesus. We have collected presents at Christmas, collected glasses, clothes, bought beans and rice, and made hundreds of balloon animals. Our latest involvement is to sponsor four boys in their school expenses. We paid for their enrollment, uniforms, books, and gave extra money for Christmas. We also collect dry food to help support the thirteen plus Southern Baptist pastors serving in Tijuana. God wants us to make an impact across the border and around the world and we do this by using our talents and skills to serve the Lord, reach people for Christ and have a life-changing experience as well.
Our most recent mission trip to Mexico was in October of 2022. We put on a “one day Vacation Bible School” for the kids in a Tijuana neighborhood called El Pozo. We look forward to joining God again in His mission to seek and save the lost! Please contact one of our pastors if you would like more information on how to get involved.
